Values

Therapy through an anti-oppressive, anti-institutional lens.

  • So much of our sickness, stuckness, and suffering is rooted in oppressive systems - capitalism, colonization, white supremacy, systemic violence -  intertwined with our inherited and ongoing traumas through survival. There will always be generative, supportive space to make those connections; move away from society’s self blame and hyperindividualism; and carve your story, reclamations, and pathways of healing.

  • Therapy has deeply punitive and white supremacist structures that I strive to subvert, question, and co-create supportive alternatives through this practice. I work on cultivating a space that is possible to have open and accountable conversations about power, privilege and oppression within therapy, our shared and different identities, and how we move through the world. I value harm reduction practices, generative conflict and repair, transformative and restorative justice, and horizontal (as possible) power and structures with relationships.

Therapy intertwining with community frameworks.

  • Therapy should not exist in a vacuum! I always believe that the relationship we hold in session should be interconnected with the world at large. Therapy is not a band-aid or cure for all our ailments, but one of hopefully many resources, webs of care, and community spaces to support your thriving and healing. I will always offer support and co-building that moves and envisions outwards- how do we discover connection, love, and meaning with ourselves, with peers and loved ones, practices and rituals, and within the collective? how do we weave past and present to ground ourselves while dreaming of an interdependent and abundant future?

Therapy as liberatory work.

  • Non-linear, community-centered, interconnected healing is one of many pieces of our collective survival and liberation. When we are able to make space to process, integrate, and reclaim your experiences, there can be more spaciousness to break intergenerational cycles of harm, pain, and suffering. There becomes more possibility to show up in our relationships and in community with grounding and care, and more resourced to show up in meaningful ways for ourselves and those around us. To engage in our own healing process, in therapy and / or otherwise, can be freeing and have powerful ripple effects in the culture and practices we are building and sharing together.
